I have noticed recently a bit of a micro trend for nail art and although extravagant fingernails are not normally my cup of cha I do quite like the subtle playfulness of it, especially now that summer is just around the corner {we live in hope!}. I have seen some really detailed talons on Pinterest and although some of these might be a bit much for your wedding day, I'm sure there is a room for a bit of fun when it comes to your nails :)

So you've picked your whimsical, bohemian wedding dress and need a few similarly fuss free bridesmaid dresses to match, no easy task right? Most bridesmaid dresses are structured, satin and formal making it really difficult to find the perfect dresses through the usual channels particularly if you are planning a more relaxed day. In my mind fuss free brides actually have to think more outside of the box when it comes to the look of the wedding with most venues, florists, wedding boutiques being more geared towards traditional weddings.

A bit of a ramble here I'm afraid and which was actually something I wrote when we first started out but never published, not sure why!? I found it in my notebook the other day and thought that what I wrote is still very much relevant to our ethos and our outlook and I'm actually quite proud of what Fran and I do. Before I was engaged to be married I always thought I would wed in something designer but an off the peg, gorgeous gown that I could wear again and feel ultra glam in. Nothing meringue-y, ruched, hooped or veiled.

I love favours at weddings and anyone who says they are a waste of money just hasn't got any imagination... I mean, they don't need to cost the earth and who doesnt love to give a little gift? You can incorporate them in to your theme {in terms of colour and style}, make them very personal {eg compilation CD's aka "The Mix Tape", your favourite tipple etc} or of course completely impersonal, silly, romantic, comical.. whatever!

So if the bohemian gowns of Claire Pettibone and Vera Wang were not enough, we can today take a look at two of my favourite designers, Monique Lhuillier and Reem Acra {both of these designers gowns are available at Browns Bride by the way}. I really liked their Spring collections and so was excited to see more.

So earlier we looked at Claire Pettibone's collection from NY Bridal Fashion Market and it certainly made its mark amongst the wedding worlds glitterati getting full marks for creativity and styling.

Fran and I were discussing dip dye/ ombre {<<couldnt help it!} in homewares the other night {like you do} which got me thinking about how trends in decor and fashion often filter in to weddings, naturally I guess as weddings are all about decor and fashion after all. Oh, and a marriage obvs.

It has occured to me recently that our friends across the pond are very fond of a soft grey when it comes to weddings, whether teamed with dark greys and neutrals or popped with a zesty lemon or lime {I love this combo}.

I do love a photobooth at a wedding, it is a great idea as not only does it offer entertainment to your guests it also gives you extra memories from the day and your guests get to take home their pictures as a little gift from the day. I had one at my wedding and still see photobooth pictures on friends pin boards and fridges which makes me smile :)

Flowers.

So a few weeks ago we featured the beautiful NY wedding of Frances and Sam by the photographer Minnow Park and we loved Minnows relaxed, youthful style over here at Bride and Chic HQ {aka wherever Fran and I can get free WiFi}. I emailed Minnow to thank him for letting us share his images and said that he shouldn't hesitate to send over any other weddings he felt were particularly stylish.

I have in my kitchen at home a clear glass vase in which I am collecting corks from wine bottles with the intention of making a cork board, an idea I first stumbled across when planning my own wedding as I thought it would make a great table plan {see below at this rustic wedding}.

So photobooths seem to be ever increasing in popularity at weddings and why not? They are a great ice breaker, they can serve as favours if your guests can take home a picture and most importantly you get some great *ahem* drunken memories from your reception!
