I have noticed recently a bit of a micro trend for nail art and although extravagant fingernails are not normally my cup of cha I do quite like the subtle playfulness of it, especially now that summer is just around the corner {we live in hope!}. I have seen some really detailed talons on Pinterest and although some of these might be a bit much for your wedding day, I'm sure there is a room for a bit of fun when it comes to your nails :)

So you've picked your whimsical, bohemian wedding dress and need a few similarly fuss free bridesmaid dresses to match, no easy task right? Most bridesmaid dresses are structured, satin and formal making it really difficult to find the perfect dresses through the usual channels particularly if you are planning a more relaxed day. In my mind fuss free brides actually have to think more outside of the box when it comes to the look of the wedding with most venues, florists, wedding boutiques being more geared towards traditional weddings.

For some the dress shopping experience is something to look forward to and they throw themselves in to it 100% but for others it is an idea of hell... the pressure of finding 'the one' is not something they look forward to. I loved it and wish I could do it all over again but I know of some who have literally chosen the first one they tried such was the hideousness of the idea of traipsing around the regions bridal shops.

I think it was Catherine Zeta Jones that said there is nothing like a wedding to get a girl in to shape and I'd say she's pretty much bang on. For many ladies, the prospect of being followed around by a photographer all day spurs even the super sveltes to get down the gym or pound the pavements to ensure they are looking their best.

Last September I was working at a trade show in Paris with the day job, it just so happened to be an accessories show and one of the new exhibitors was none other than Jenny Packham. This was exciting to me as I had been a Jenny Packham bride just a couple of months earlier and I was also lucky enough to have sported the gorgeous Acacia II in crystal, a gorgeous headpiece if I do say so myself. On a quiet moment I decided to have a little look at the new range and I was not disappointed, there were some truely gorgeous new pieces including some fabulous necklaces to rock with a simple dress.

So I have just been to Spain for a week for a well earned rest where we basically ate ourselves in to oblivion in between reading, relaxing, going to the Zoo and of course shopping.
For me it was unfortunately largely window shopping what with me being up the duff and all but one thing I love about our Spanish jaunts is being able to browse around what is in my opinion the best Spanish export after Julio Iglesias, good old Zara.

Ok, I won't hide the fact, I really like French Connection. I seem to get at least one of their dresses from each collection and I adore their accessories and jewellery. I love them so much that my bridesmaids donned the ever popular Penny dress in ivory for my big day, super stylish bridesmaids there ever were if I do say so myself. Their shapes seem to flatter and fit in the right places and tick all the boxes when it comes to the seasons trends.

I have hearted David Fielden dresses ever since he gave me my first ever dress wobble back in the early days of wedding planning. I’d just paid the deposit on my dress and was quite happy but being a bit of a dress fiend I couldn’t help but look at other gowns in the wedding mags. This dress in particular stopped me in my tracks as it was just so perfect, it had a silk cowl neck and then tulle from the nipped in waist, goddam it I think it even had pockets! It was in a soft light gold colour and it I just thought it was stunning.

There is something about a ballerina that is awe inspiring, the classical beauty and elegance of the dance of course but also the dress which is so intrinsically linked with the image of a classical bride, pure, white, innocent and youthful.

Now it's no secret that I do love a Balbier bride here on bride&chic and one of my favourite dresses ever, Tabitha, was featured on one of our real weddings recently, 'tis truly stunning. Its hard to believe that Charlotte Balbier is only in her 8th year in the bridal industry, her ranges are full and accomplished and she already has a recognisable style.

Don’t you just love it when you find something super gorgeous when you are not actually looking for it? Well this is was one of those occasions and I am so pleased to show all you brides-to-be these amazing, luxurious and totally not tacky garters by British designer Florrie Mitton. My only displeasure is that I had not stumbled across these beauties before my own big day as I most certainly would have donned one on my thigh.

So I am completely rubbish at hair, always have been and I suspect always will be.
Which is really annoying because I have these great ideas, spend hours in rollers followed by curling tongs and then followed by enough hairspray that I now have my own hole in the ozone layer. And I end up with a nest of sticky frizzy hair that I brush out and tie back. Really annoying.

…I’d be sat here as a Vera Wang bride.
I honestly don’t think I’ve seen a dress of hers that I don’t like and I would quite happily divorce and remarry for the chance to wear one, I’m actually tempted to pop into Selfridges sans wedding ring to have a little try on.
My favourite is Eliza.. No, actually its Erin.. No, it’s Eva... Here is Fall 2010…one, two, three… le sigh…

The old bridesmaid dress debate, high street vs bridal is always a tricky one.
Go high street and save a good few pennies but risk one of your guests turning up in the same dress or go down the traditional bridesmaid dress route and risk buying something your girls will probably never wear again. Hmmm…
I can see both sides of the argument and so seeing as were good like that we’ll work on regular updates on what is new on the high street but also blog on anything B&C worthy on the bridal fashion network. The bridemaid dress industry has come on leaps and bounds even in the past couple of years offering new more fashion focussed designs that even the most fashionista of bridesmaids would be happy to rock.
So here goes, I’ve started with some nude/ blush/ naturals from the High Street simply because I am a fan of the neutral bridesmaid and so it seemed like a good place to start! Throw in a few metallic accessories and you’re on to a winner, lucky bridesmaids….

Ok so I was browsing the wedding blogs on my lunchbreak the other day and I stumbled across the most divine wedding dresses I have seen in ages on one of my favourite blogs 100 layer cake. Chic, pretty and modern they are everything I look for in a dress and I have to say me heart did sink a little when I saw they were by a French Designer Delphine Manivet. Not because I have anything against the French, far from it, but because I thought it would mean they would be out of reach for us Brits and therefore I couldn’t really blog about them as that would be just mean.
