Vintage industrial. Buzz words.
Its my new favourite décor style, to the point of obsession actually. We are finally getting round to decorating our office/ study/ junk room and it is going to be in a vintage industrial style complete with steel light shades, white washed exposed brick work and a French 1960's cream painted metal desk.
Which is proving tricky as we live in a 1920's suburban semi, nothing industrial about it in any way, shape or form but I'll ignore this fact for the time being and continue to search for corrugated iron.
But interestingly, upon my googling of various turns of phrase {vintage industrial, upcycled, recycled, reclaimed, repurposed etc etc} I naturally started to think weddings and in particular wedding décor. Could vintage industrial be used as a theme for your wedding decor? Hell to the yes.
It's actually a very natural move on from shabby chic vintage as you can combine the pretty vintage details that we're used to seeing {mason jars :)} with new ideas such as heavy, distressed metal work, reclaimed wood, retro lighting, crates, tins to create a totally new look. Replace the chiavari chairs with Eames reproductions, the distressed dresser for a polished metal filing cabinet, the birdcages for wire baskets and you're almost there.
There's even room for the ubiquitous vintage typewriter. As long as it's industrial.
So, if you've got an open mind and a lot of vision and imagination then this could work for you... here's a bit of scrap book inspiration to get you started...
